Astore Valley Blossom Tour Itinerary
The onset of cherry blossom signifies the departure of the cold winter weather in picturesque locations such as Hunza Valley, Phandar Valley, Skardu Valley, and various other parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, ushering in the arrival of spring. The cherry blossom season typically commences in mid-March and paints the landscapes with vibrant colors until the final week of April. This splendid tradition of cherry blossom viewing dates back to ancient times when nobility would compose poetry and revel in song beneath the blooming cherry trees.
- Day 1: Departure from Islamabad (early morning) via Mansehra, Shinkiari, Battagram on Karakoram Highway (KKH). Cross Indus River, pass through Besham, Dasu, and Diamer-Bhasha dam sites. Hotel in Chilas.
- Day 2: Drive to Astore Valley from Chilas (4 hrs). Scenic drive along Astore River through villages. Stop at Astore Bazaar. Jeep drive to Rama and ascend towards the hotel/guest house in Rama. Hotel in Rama/Astore.
- Day 3: Morning walk in the forest/vegetation area near Polo ground. Drive to Deosai Plateau, cross Bara Pani, picnic lunch at Deosai National Park. Hotel in Skardu.
- Day 4: Visit Shangrila Resort, Upper Kachura Lake, drive through the Cold Desert to Shigar, visit Shigar Fort, lunch at residence. Drive back to Skardu and hike to Kharpocho Fort. Hotel in Skardu.
- Day 5: Drive to Ghanche district, visit Sailing Village and Haji Mushtaq fish farm. Visit Chaqchan Mosque and Khaplu Fort. Drive to Kharmang District, visit Manthoka Waterfalls. Hotel in Skardu.
- Day 6: Drive back towards Islamabad via Babusar (if open) or Karakoram Highway. Hotel in Naran/Kaghan or Besham.
- Day 7: Drive back towards Islamabad via Babusar (if open) or Karakoram Highway. Fly Out.
